NLP Presupposition #5: If what you are doing is not working, do something different

‘The definition of insanity is continuing to do the same thing over and over, and then expecting different results,’  Einstein famously stated.

This follows on from Presupposition #3. Consider the feedback, then if you want a different result, do something different.

And yet so often we will go about our lives, doing the same thing but expecting a different result.  As if there’s some magical intervention that will happen and make everything all different.

Tips for using this presupposition:

Stop.  Consider: are you getting the results you want?  If not, then try something different. ANYTHING different.  Often the freedom of just stepping away from a problem will give us a different viewpoint, and allow us to get a resolution.  So don’t think too hard – just do something different instead.
