People respond according to their map of the world – of course they do – how else could they respond? People work within the territories that they understand, and the territory they understand is defined by “their map” of the world.
How best to use this pressuposition: consider other people’s map before you start to communicate with them. When you look at things using their map, you might well change your mind too, and a the very least you’ll be more empathetic to their needs. |
